Eric M. Black began writing poetry while in college at Murray State University. In 2004, he published his collection of poetry, An Old Man which represents nearly a decade of writing poetry.
For many years, he tried to transition from writing poetry to writing novels, but nothing ever seemed to take. Then in early 2009, Eric got the idea for The Fountain. At first there were no plans to write an entire series, he was just interested in seeing if he could actually write a novel. In fact, The Fountain was almost completely handwritten in a notebook.
After completing The Fountain, the idea of creating more books on the idea of The Fountain began to take shape. Within six months of completing The Fountain, Eric had completed The Fountain: The Book of Jubilees, and Covenant. Currently, Eric is developing a fourth novel in The Fountain series.
During the second half of 2010, Eric completed Jack, which he feels really defined him as a writer. It allowed him to expand out of historical fantasy into writing thrillers. Eric spent the rest of 2010 writing Intensity. He had always wanted to write a Western. Intensity and Eric's sixth novel, Calling Babel were completed in 2011. Eric is currently writing the novel Passchendaele.
Eric lives in South Carolina with his wife and two sons. For more information on Eric, please review the list of frequently asked questions (FAQ).
