![]() I started writing poetry in college for a variety of reasons, some of which are very personal. When I was 21, I became reaquainted with an old friend and he introduced me to others who enjoyed writing poetry as well. As a group we met a few times to read aloud and discuss our poetry, and from that my poems really took off in a new, exciting direction. As you read through the collection, you'll notice the progression as I move from a young man to a man who is married with children and a career. When I published the collection in 2004, I descibed this collection as a discussion on "what God is to an unbelieving society, what thoughts go through the minds and souls of a twenty-something generation, what is funny, what makes us happy, and what is love? These poems are inspired by classical poets but also by a modern world of tragedy, apathy, and hopes. These poems describe an eight-year progression from an uncertain young man to the world of business, marriage, children, and beyond."
